My amazing friend Robin travels the world with her media company. I love how she just knows that her gifts of yarn from her assorted locations are super exciting to me.
This Summer I received a great surprise box of yarn from Robin.
This deliciousness was obtained at https://thunderbirdlodge.com/ which was originally a trading post on this Navajo Tribal land by Canyon De Chelly National Monument (Arizona). Robin had been invited to a friend’s daughter’s First Laugh Ceremony (Dine, Navajo tradition). Robin was impressed with the gorgeous textiles and rugs. Then, she saw and more importantly, felt the yarn, knew I would dig it and I do. I am a lucky friend!
The yarn is beautifully rich in color.
Sorry for that fuzzy photo. The label says the yarn is from Mitchell, Nebraska. To be exact ,it’s a www.brownsheep.com product. The company is over 100 years old and family owned. Definitely, take a moment to look at the website.

As I know I mentioned before, still hard at work prepping the house to sell. I had to reward myself and turned to my happy place https://imagiknit.com/. I decided to splurge on the Very Important Knitter Mystery Box. It would include enough malabrigo yarn for 2 projects. I love Malabrigo yarn-so soft, so brilliantly colorful, makes me sigh and swoon. On the order form, I told the shop that I use the yarn for embroidery and not to include any yarn thicker than sock weight. Also, I let them know that I wanted mixed skeins because I don’t use yarn for knitting projects. Here’s my box.
My mystery box contents included :
1 skein of lusciously pink, Lace weight, merino “Unk”.
1 skein of Blended Autumnal colors, Kettle Dyed Pure Superwash Merino wool, sock weigh, “Archangel”
1 skein of spotty turquoise, Kettle Dyed Pure Superwash Merino wool, sock weight “Parade”.
A tea infuser shaped like a llama
2 small tins of Love and Leche balm.
I am already excited to already have an idea for how I will use the ‘Parade’ yarn.
Well, I am being called back to dealing with prepping the house. Will be back with trellis talk soon.
Thanks for reading my blog🌹
